From social activities to civic action, opportunities to connect and feel welcomed strengthen our social fabric. Creating a livable community gives space to interactions among people and between people and Town Hall- face to face or online- that adds value to our relationships and supports community involvement with local government.
The Mayor's Walk is a series of events designed to focus on improved community relations and proactively address community thoughts and opinions.
Community participants are encouraged to attend. Participants should wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather. In the event of rain, the "walk" will be held in Town Hall Council Chambers as a "meet and greet"
The Town of Shady Shores is committed to transparency and public engagement. One of the priorities is to build trust through ethical, transparent governance. This event is a vital step toward realizing this commitment.
Addressing Community Issues
The walk introduces the community to administrative leaders and addresses key thoughts and opinions in the community in real-time. With this grassroots-centered approach, Shady Shores is able to capture concerns and address and if possible, resolve issues. After each event, a list of concerns will be given to the Town Council through the Community Relations Report.
Maps will be posted ahead of each event, noting the start and ending locations.
Mayor Aughinbaugh will be hosting Walk with the Mayor events. A quorum of council members may choose to join. Councilmembers may choose to participate to receive input from residents however no action will be taken at this time. This is not an official meeting of the Shady Shores Town Council, and council members may respond to resident questions with factual information only.
