Lake Dallas Public Library Offers Free Meals for Children

Healthy Summer Meals for Kids

As part of the library’s Summer Reading Program, the library is offering FREE meals to children ages 0 – 18. These meals are distributed in a drive-thru style format every Tuesday through Friday from 12 PM – 1:30 PM. Each bag of food contains a lunch and a breakfast. Children do not need to be present to have their meals picked up by a family member/friend. No proof of residency is required. In the first three weeks of the program, library staff and volunteers distributed 832 bags of food, resulting in 1,664 meals (breakfast and lunch) being distributed. Originally, we were going to end the Summer Meal Program at the end of July, but I was informed today that the program will be funded and run through August 21st. If anyone is interested in assisting the program, the S. Tracy Howard Project can accept monetary donations by contacting Site Coordinator JaNeen Howard by phone at (214) 906-7913.
